Emerald Valley Track Club (EVTC) is an
independent, non-profit, youth-based sports organization that is sanctioned
by USATF and is in partnership with Eugene YMCA. The goal of the club is to
encourage and help young people to develop physically, emotionally and
socially through their involvement in track and field and cross-country.
We provide opportunities for youth, ages 7-18, of all athletic abilities:
Our goal is to create an environment that is nurturing. We hope that participants gain an appreciation for the sport and for themselves as they explore their own physical and mental limits and interests. At the same time, we want the club to provide opportunities for families to get together and have fun taking part in supporting and encouraging youth of our communities. Families are encouraged to take an active role in the club. Parent volunteers run this club, and in order for the club to provide the opportunities and experiences that you want for your child you need to become involved. Parental suggestions and feedback are encouraged, as is parental time and energy, to help create a positive experience for your child and the other youths in the program. Competition is available with other clubs in the Willamette Valley and is an important piece of the overall experience, but it is not mandatory for athletes to compete to be part of the club. Early season meets are developmental meets that are open to everyone, and later season meets are part of the Youth Athletic and Junior Olympic programs that have qualifying standards beyond the state meets. Our coaches are knowledgeable in their particular events in track and field and/or cross-country. They enjoy working with kids and make practices fun as they direct the athletes in safe, appropriate training. We encourage you to come give us a try!
