Jeff Hoskins:  Head Coach, Sprints, Hurdles and Multi's

Jeff serves as Head Coach for EVTC. He has been involved with youth track and field since his own participation began in the 3rd grade.  He competed for Sheldon High School, the UO track team for 4 years and has been coaching youth track for over 15 years, both in track and field and X-country.  Jeff is currently the track and field coach at South Eugene High School and does private coaching in addition to his duties with Emerald Valley.  Jeff enjoys sharing his experiences and knowledge of track with young people and his enthusiasm is contagious.

Chad Schacht:  Distance

Chad serves as assistant head coach and is another lifetime participant in track.  He participated as a youth, through HS and as a member of the UO distance track and cross-country teams.  He has been an assistant track and cross-country coach at Lane Community College for many years.  He's also Sheldon High School's cross-country coach.  He has been involved in coaching youth track and cross-country for over 10 years and heads up our distance coaches.  In addition to this, Chad is a middle school math teacher in Springfield.

Meriel Hartling:  Distance

Meriel has been a life long athlete with a passion for running.  She attended Beaverton High School as a three sport athlete including track and field.  She started running sprints and throwing discus but evolved to running distance.  Meriel competed on the UO running club for three years, running two marathons and distances ranging from the 1500 to 10,000.  She was coordinator of the club team for a year and ran cross country for the UO her senior year.  Merial has coached beginning runners and will graduate from the UO with a BS in political science.

Jim Matejka:  Pole Vault

Jim is a student of the Pole Vault and has been a participant and student of the event for many years.  He has been coaching young people for 7 years at Sheldon HS and several years with Emerald Valley.  Jim has a great rapport with our kids.  Jim continues to compete with OTC Masters.
